Enter The Frame via Boon Edam Revolving Doors
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 2018 – Boon Edam Middle East recently saw 3 years of close collaboration come to fruition at the opening of the impressive UAE landmarked known as ‘The Dubai Frame’. Welcome and Secure Situated in Zabeel Park in Dubai, The Dubai Frame is expected to be a major tourist destination attracting two million people yearly to see the view of old and new Dubai from the top of the Frame. Boon Edam Middle East first tendered for the Dubai Frame project, early 2015 and continued to work closely with the project’s façade contractor before securing the order for delivering the main entry, consisting of several 3-wing Tourniket revolving doors. Winning Under Tight Time Pressure After a quick approval process we were able to meet the tight programme deadlines, which required the installation of the revolving door entry to be carried out early in 2017. The spectacular Dubai Frame opened to the public at the beginning of 2018. Part of an Iconic Concept The Boon Edam doors provide an impressive entrance to a museum on the ground floor, showcasing Dubai's transformation from an old fishing village to the metropolis it is today. The architectural structure is positioned in such a way that representative landmarks of modern Dubai can be seen on one side, while from the other side, visitors can view older parts of the city. The concept takes the visitors to a journey through time on three different levels: old Dubai, present Dubai and future Dubai. Dubai Frame Facts The frame measures 150 metres high and 93 metres wide. The two towers are connected by a 100-square-metre bridge, which has a 25-square-metre glass panel in the middle offering a great 360 degree view. It was designed by award-winning architect Fernando Donis, who also designed Dubai’s Porsche Design Towers, and the Dubai Renaissance Tower. Exterior design of Dubai Frame was inspired from the logo of Expo 2020. There is a museum on the ground floor that will showcase Dubai’s transformation from fishing village to metropolis. It is predicted the frame will become a major tourist destination in the city, like the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab. The project is worth Dhs160 million.

The New Speedlane Swing's Slim Body Catches the Eye
Boon Edam Australia recently installed the first order of the Lifeline Series Speedlane Swing, speed gates. This new installation coincided with a complete refurbishment over 3 floors for a business within the financial sector in downtown Sydney. Due to the sensitive nature of the industry they required secure control on the access to various floors of the building for their staff, with the Speedlane providing a ideal solution to this need. Innovative Tall Glass Solution The wide version of the Speedlane Swing speed gate is typically supplied at a standard height of 1800mm, with an easy, clear passage of 915mm. In this particular installation, the client was determined for the clear gap when the doors are open to be 1000mm, which is a non-standard specification. Working together, we were able to meet this customised need by lowering the door height to 1650mm, which also reduced the overall weight. This innovative solution accommodated the extra wide passageway, and still remained within the safety tested limits of the product. Product Design Secured The Order The Security Manager for this project first came across this product during the Security Exhibition held in Melbourne in 2015. After being so impressed by the product design, the order was placed almost immediately, with the key to winning this contract being the slim design and high quality, modern aesthetics. Alastair Russell, National Sales Manager, Boon Edam Australia recounts the initial meeting: "I remember the client was one of the first visitors to our exhibition stand that year and when he left us, I knew I had just secured the very first installation of the Lifeline series Speedlanes in Australia". Further Installations Since this installation occurred the client has placed a further order of 4 double units spread over three floors for another location in Sydney.
